I'LL BUY MY WAY TO TALK TO GOD SO HE CAN LIVE WITH WHAT I'M NOT Another lovely day in Rhoda to take advantage of the common folk's stupidity. The sly Cynric smirked at the thought as he leaned back against the wall behind him lazily, shuffling a set of cards in hand as he waited for the suckers to just flock in. As anticipated, people began to notice the red head, watching him curiously as he called out to the growing crowd, advertising a chance at riches over an honorable game of cards, questioning if anyone felt lucky. Soon, a burly looking man would step up, Cyn certainly not missing the hefty purse tied around his belt. "What's the gain?" the scowling fellow questioned.
As the game set off, an audience began to crowd around them. "A game of luck, my fine man," Cynric began, already dealing the cards, quite convinced he'd already roped in the fellow. "Winner takes all." he announced, showing off his own bag of riches, a rather impressive sum indeed and no doubt a very tempting prize for the man in front of him. Tempting it was, enough so that the man could only yield.
It started out simple, for the man at least. It seemed that every hand Cynric dealt was bad and he found he was losing coins faster than he could count. But as things were just starting to look bleak, and Cynric's coin was nearly half gone, he decided to offer up a much more rewarding idea. "Winner takes all, right?" he questioned, pushing his whole bag forward as well as placing his pride and joy up for bet, an impressive looking dagger with a golden hilt. The very dagger he'd used to carve out his captain's throat. "I'm feeling rather lucky." he smiled, a rather unnerving smile that his opponent didn't seem to notice. "You want to lose it all? Fine I'll take your gold and your dagger." the man boasted with a cocky smirk. Hook, line, and sinker. It was almost too easy.
Where previously, Cynric didn't seem to even know how to play the game, he was suddenly quite confident and this however did not go unnoticed, the bigger male finding himself rather unsure by the man's sudden smugness. And just like that, the game was over. Cynric had won back what he'd lost and the man's entire coin, leaving him broke and confused. "I'm so sorry." the former pirate began, not actually sounding all that apologetic as he pulled the prize towards him. "Better luck next time." he grinned mischievously.
The man twitched and that was all the warning Cynric got before he found his collar grabbed and himself pulled forward in an uncomfortable manner, fist pulled back and ready to beat the man into a bloody pulp. "You cheating bastard!" the offended man cursed, about to knock the cheater's other eye out when he felt something at his throat. "Now, now. No need to be a sore loser." Cynric cooed, the dagger pressed against the man's throat, threatening to sink in if the man dared to try and make another move. Unsurprisingly, the man remained frozen in place upon the realization. "Good. You aren't as stupid as you look." he continued to taunt with the most innocent of smiles, causing his opponent to sneer. Unfortunately, the man still didn't let go. Either he was brave or proving him wrong. Either way, Cyn wasn't all that pleased. Just when he thought that he'd have to get it over with, cut the stubborn fool, the con artist caught movement in the corner of his eye.
"It appears we have company." he spoke to his 'comrade' curious as to how this would play out. TAG: @open | WORDS: 609 NOTES: rescue cyn or help the goon beat him up. your choice! : P MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

once your mine there's no going back He had watched the entire scene unfold from the back of the crowd, gaze constantly following the red heads hands. Waiting. His acting had been good, not quite as good as someone who convinced an entire world they were a male, but quite good regardless. Enough for him to outsmart some meat he--or not.
Theo had found the whole event quite a spectacle, one that he had enjoyed. A chuckle escaped her lips. He had stopped in part because the red head had looked remarkably familiar to a childhood friend and also because he was bored and wanted to see what would happen. He had proven himself quite an interesting person to watch, and that was why when thing started to heat up, he shifted to the front rather than back off like others had.
He watched curiously as the scene unfolded, not missing a beat as the red head moved his dagger to meat heads throat. Yet, neither man backed down. Would the red head really spill the others guts here? If he did, it probably would not be a good thing for any of those around. He would probably get in trouble just by being here - after all, it would not be the first time that the city guards had seen him. Then he would get in trouble with Nix after he had to bail his ass out of jail.
He sighed, hand raised to scratch at his head, at least it would be interesting. He moved forward quietly, brow raised as the other man announced his presence. It would be difficult to miss the sword at his waist, and while it was not drawn, there was a hint that it could be. "Now now gents. Perhaps we should calm ourselves. Surely neither of you two want these beautiful ladies and fine gentleman to have to see anything violent." His hands swept out behind him. A wink sent to the crowd. It was an act, a game, would he be able to diffuse the situation, or would he have to conk both on the head with his sword and separate them like children?
His gaze narrowed on both of them. "You sir, lost. Fair and square. There was no cheating, the crowd can vouch for it. Do you cry every time you do not get you way? I certainly pity your wife if that is the case. Now run home and tell her you've lost the money that is supposed to pay for dinner because you were stupid. Beg for her forgiveness, because heaven knows, you don't deserve her, and let these kind folks not have to witness something terrible" His words were smooth, but had an undertone of warning to them. Two versus one was not going to work out well for meat head, it was better he accepted this fact.

I'LL BUY MY WAY TO TALK TO GOD SO HE CAN LIVE WITH WHAT I'M NOT He didn't turn to face the approaching company though thankfully, they were coming from a direction he could see with his good eye. Even from the glimpse he'd caught, he found the face somewhat familiar. He might have even turned to get a better look had he not been currently busy threatening a man's throat. For now, he would have to wait till things cooled a bit further down before he could even consider focusing on anyone else. So his green eye remained trained on the angry ones before him. Fortunately, the brute seemed willing to risk getting a good look, not daring to move his throat but looking as far as his position would let him to see the approaching blonde. The way his brows furrowed, it seemed the sore loser wasn't all that pleased with their presence.
"Now now gents. Perhaps we should calm ourselves. Surely neither of you two want these beautiful ladies and fine gentleman to have to see anything violent." Come to ease the situation? Cynric wouldn't complain, but being in the predicament he was, he didn't dare lower his blade first. He might have a weapon, but he didn't doubt this beast would beat him to a bloody pulp if given the chance. Besides, he considered himself to be a gentleman! "After you." he smirked devilishly, giving the man the chance to lower him so this could end peacefully. Of course, nothing could ever be easy and the man hesitated. Fortunately, his hero came to the rescue by speaking up once more.
"You sir, lost. Fair and square. There was no cheating, the crowd can vouch for it. Do you cry every time you do not get you way? I certainly pity your wife if that is the case. Now run home and tell her you've lost the money that is supposed to pay for dinner because you were stupid. Beg for her forgiveness, because heaven knows, you don't deserve her, and let these kind folks not have to witness something terrible" Cynric chuckled, finally turning to face the sword wielding blonde with a smile. "I admire your honesty, but do you think you can wait to insult him till after he lets me go?" he offered with a chuckle. Despite his act, he didn't appear to be nearly as nervous as he tried to let on, still more than ready to kill the fellow if he didn't back off. Wouldn't be his first murder, likely wouldn't be his last.
Fortunately for him, despite how angry he felt towards such cruel words, the man seemed to have finally realized the situation he was in. With much reluctance, the meat head let him go. "This isn't over." he muttered under his breath in warning before shoving past the crowd of witnesses in a huff, storming down the street with an array of curses. Cynric sighed, brushing his bangs from his face after he sheathed his dagger. He supposed he'd have to watch out for that guy. Oh well. If he wanted to tango, Cyn decided he was eager to please. Perhaps in a much less public area. He supposed he'd cross that bridge when he came across it, however.
With the crisis averted, the crowd began to disperse, leaving Cynric and the stranger alone. Though now that he'd been able to get a good look, he was quite certain this was no stranger. "Who do I have to thank?" he questioned with a grin. It'd been quite a few years since he'd saw that mug, but there was no way he could mistake it. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

once your mine there's no going back Theo didn't miss a beat. Nerves were not something that showed on his face. Rather, he kept up the confident facade. If worse came to worse, pretty boy over there would get hit once or twice. He would let the meat head get one or two hits in before intervening. In truth, that would have probably been the most logical way to diffuse the situation. However, she doubted the red head had much else going for him to attract his customers other than his sincere face.
He turned the charming grin to the red head as he protested his insults. "Merely giving him some advice. I have a way with women you know." Sadly, it was true. He had an ability to get most women to do whatever he wanted. It was a beautiful skill...ya know, if you weren't actually watching as he used it on someone. It made him as much a scumbag as the next guy.
As the meat head made his departure, he spun, arm raising in the air. "Bye now! Give your beautiful wife my regards!" And sympathies. One could wonder here if the man was stupid or plain sadistic. He seemed to completely enjoy himself in this sort of situation.
He finally turned to mister pretty boy. The grin became a smirk. "I believe you know me as Theo. No?" He gave a mock bow. "It's been a long time. I see you're still causing as much trouble as ever."
It was easy to fall back into the past. "So lets be honest, you set the deck each and every time right?" He whispered now, as though they were talking conspiracies. "You looked so pitiful as he took you for everything. It was almost believable!" There it was, the teasing of long time friends. As though time had not been a thing and the last time they saw each other had been only the night before.

I'LL BUY MY WAY TO TALK TO GOD SO HE CAN LIVE WITH WHAT I'M NOT "Merely giving him some advice. I have a way with women you know." He had to stifle the chuckle, not wanting to anger the man too much. Not that it looked like he could get much worse. His luck for picking out the short-tempered goons he supposed. Fortunately, Cynric would have to suffer a black eye today, said goon smart enough to not cause trouble with so many witnesses. The former pirate would certainly keep an eye out for him though, not completely shrugging off the threat. If he had the bite to his bark, then Cyn would be ready to fight back. Till then, he was perfectly content with ignoring the fool, taking his prize and deciding that was good enough for today. At least in this area, of course. There was only so much he could do in one place before the guards started getting suspicious and he'd rather not have to deal with them anytime soon.
Cynric watched as the man gave his goodbyes to the disgruntled fellow before he disappeared off into the distance. If he needed further proof, this seemed to do the trick. To think he'd nearly forgotten the bastard. With that in mind he'd approach, deciding to confirm his suspicions. "I believe you know me as Theo. No?" Sure enough, the name matched the face and Cynric smiled a bit brighter. "Sounds awfully familiar." he admitted with a chuckle, waving off the mock bow with an eye roll. "It's been a long time. I see you're still causing as much trouble as ever." Long time indeed. He hadn't seen him since that fateful day he'd stowed away on a pirates ship. "Always. The world wouldn't function otherwise." he spoke in a matter of fact tone with a devilish smirk.
"So lets be honest, you set the deck each and every time right?" Leave it to Theo to figure out his tricks. It was somewhat disappointing, since he wouldn't be able to easily swindle him like he'd done with all the others. Of course, that didn't mean he still wouldn't try. "I'm afraid I have no idea what you are talking about." he said innocently, a knowing grin on his face. The cat was out of the bag, but it wasn't like he had to admit it openly, especially if anyone happened to be listening in. "You looked so pitiful as he took you for everything. It was almost believable!" He always considered himself to be quite the actor. But then again, he couldn't really take all the credit. Theo himself put on quite a show.
"This coming from you? I'd never thought you'd be a mediator. Then again, if you'd kept talking I might have lost my other eye." he laughed. "Wouldn't want the ladies to witness such an atrocious act!" he said in a mock tone, seeming to be trying to act like Theo. What was that about being a good actor? I take it back.
"Seriously, though. What the hell are you up to? Besides causing women to swoon." he teased. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

once your mine there's no going back Theo chuckled, his hand coming up to run through the front half of his hair. "Looks like I made enough impression to not be forgotten." A grin remained permanently lodged on his lips. Did he ever do anything but grin? Probably not. "It's definitely been awhile, hasn't it!"
As Cynric feigned innocence, Theo snorted in response. It was hard to pull one over on him when it came down to cheating. It was the easiest way to win against his Quartermaster, and he had long since learned to do it flawlessly. Otherwise, his luck was just terrible when put against his.
A wink and a sarcastic tone was indication that he did not believe a word that came out of the others mouth. "If you say so." He stretched, gaze thrown towards the dispersing crowd. His head shook and a sigh came forth. "Show is over, gotta pretend like we were never here." He muttered this, not actually expecting a response, more just observing the typical action of other humans.
He glanced back at the red head, a full fledged laugh bellowing out. People glanced at him, possibly thinking he was insane, but that didn't seem to bother Theo. It was obvious he was used to being in the middle of everything, and he loved the attention.
"It's my full time job. Keeping helpless saps alive." It was hard to tell if she was talking about meat head or Cynric himself. "That'll be a sack of riches as payment for such a close call." He was kidding of course. If Theo wanted the boys money, he would just sneak it before he left. Actually - he still could. It might be fun. "Besides, ladies are such frail creatures around these parts. I would have to play the hero and catch them one by one as they fainted at the sight of blood, and that's a lot of work."
Some of the men too were just as weak when it came to such things. He did not hold it against them, some just did not have the stomach.
However, attention was quickly brought to the present. He threw his arms wide and gave another bow. "I, kind sir, am captain of a wonderful ship." The Golden Tiger was definitely Theo's pride and joy, and it's crew was just as much a part of his pride as the ship itself. "I've had it for awhile now."
He was obviously thrilled to be sharing such news with Cynric, however, as much as he liked the attention on him, it was only polite to inquire about the others ongoings. "And you? What dangers have you been up to?" He motioned towards the eye and the rest of him.

I'LL BUY MY WAY TO TALK TO GOD SO HE CAN LIVE WITH WHAT I'M NOT "Looks like I made enough impression to not be forgotten." Cynric shook his head, rubbing his chin in thought. "No if I remember correctly, I think you might have snitched about me to the guard so you could make a quick getaway with your loot." he teased. Perhaps it was true, it wouldn't be surprising if it was, but it was clear Cynric was merely pulling Theo's leg or at the very least held no harsh feelings for whatever memories they shared way back then. He did remember one thing though, how he'd managed to gather up a group of misfits and make quite the name for himself. Hell, if Cyn hadn't up and disappeared, he might have jumped in on that ship. Might have saved him a lot of trouble. And an eye. But of course, he wouldn't trade his experience for the world. How else would he be so infamous?
Well. These little stunts didn't help. If he wasn't off killing other pirates, he was causing trouble in the streets. Gambling, drinking, almost always ending the day in a fight. The guards hated him for a reason, but they still hadn't managed to catch the slippery snake. "Show is over, gotta pretend like we were never here." The former pirate crossed his arms behind his head with a yawn, his bag of winnings hanging off his wrist. "Way ahead of you, friend." he smiled, casually blending in with... well... nothing. The crowd had mostly dispersed, ridding any real evidence of a show to begin with, so he was certain they were in the clear, so long as they didn't bring too much attention to themselves. Otherwise, you'd bet your ass he'd already been gone the moment he smelled trouble. Of course, expecting no attention with Theo around was like expecting water to not be wet. It was just illogical. Evidenced by what could only be described as maniacal laughter.
Cynric simply shook his head with a soft chuckle, glad his old friend was amused by his impersonation. "It's my full time job. Keeping helpless saps alive." Cynric gave a small pout. "Oi! Be nice. The fucker was too busy worrying about his pride than to be concerned his throat." He didn't even seem to notice Theo might have been implying he needed the rescuing. That was just a silly notion. "I'm afraid he's rather poor right now and I'm sure you can understand I'm not a very generous man." he said in a matter of fact tone, not seeming at all ashamed of that fact.
"Besides, ladies are such frail creatures around these parts. I would have to play the hero and catch them one by one as they fainted at the sight of blood, and that's a lot of work." Ah, yes. He could see how that'd be tedious. "True. Though I'm sure you'd find something to make it worth it." he nodded to himself. It would be quite easy to relieve the fainted of unnecessary pressure. Expensive jewelry and coins just had to go! Ah, but he didn't have Theo's 'honest' face. He just wasn't cut out for the hero type. Then again, he had no doubts that Theo himself wasn't either.
"I, kind sir, am captain of a wonderful ship. I've had it for awhile now." A change of expression occurred, Cynric seeming to be actually impressed. Not exactly a good sign. "A ship, you say?" he began, sounding excited but a bit skeptical. "To be honest, I never pegged you as the sailing type. Figured you'd be taking over the island with your gang." he reasoned in a hushed tone with a smirk, words not meant to be insulting but could easily be misinterpreted as such. "You'll have to show me and tell me how you stole it." he continued with a laugh, not at all intending to scope out this apparent ship. Oh heaven's no! He'd never do that to a friend! ...Unless it was a pretty damn good ship.
Of course, attention then turned to him, Cynric not missing the gesture to his eye, running his fingers over the patch. "Nothing exciting. I simply tripped and fell into a very menacing post." he joked. Fortunately he wasn't that clumsy, not counting when he was drunk. "I've been around. Getting into trouble of course." he nodded lazily. "Last time I saw you was before I snuck my way onto a pirate's ship." he explained. "And somehow I ended up labeled the treacherous dog. You'd think of all things they'd come up with a more interesting title." he shrugged, talking about the ordeal rather casually. If Theo didn't know about the stories yet, he'd find out soon enough. It was best to get it out of the way, he supposed.
"But enough about my boring tale. What adventures have you and your merry group of misfits gotten into?" he smirked, passing by the blonde, expecting him to follow as he continued down the streets. It was subtle, but he caught wind of guards closing in. He'd rather not stick around too long and trusted Theo wouldn't have any objections. "Perhaps we can hit the bar and keep up this little reunion over a couple of drinks." he suggested, more or less looking for a place to lay low. Of course, he could never say no to a drink, so the bar was as good as any as far as he was concerned. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

once your mine there's no going back A laugh bubbled forth past the young mans lips as Cyric spoke. "I would never rat out a fellow street urchin. Well...maybe if he was a red he-- OH WAIT! You are." He was completely messing with the other man. The only thing that would cause Theo to rat out another, was if it was the only way to save one of his own. Even then though, he would try to find another solution. He wasn't a traitor.
It would soon be time to begin moving. Best not to stay here much longer, just in case word HAD gotten back to the guards. "Well, I doubt I would have been very generous either if he was thinking to clobber me a good one. I quite like my face pretty." Which, it was. Or rather, given his true gender, perhaps it would have been best to describe it as handsome. It was strange how certain words fit certain genders best, but still meant the exact same thing.
It was true, he could probably find one or two trinkets to make it worth his while, however, he was not going to give Cynric that. "I am naught but a gentleman!" The tone though, made this difficult to believe. However, it was quickly dropped.
Theo looked thoughtful though as the conversation on his occupation continued. Most had been surprised when he had opted to take to the ocean. It had happened quite spur of the moment in most peoples eyes, but Theo had thought hard and long on the matter. Somehow, despite the fact that Theo had managed to establish himself on the island, something had always felt off here. He had found himself settled on the ocean though. "You're not the only one. It wasn't something that I did without great consideration for the consequences. I left the gang in good hands though. They are still thriving. Those that stayed that is." His smile changed, it softened his face and seemed to take on a more feminine look. He missed the gang while he was gone, but he wouldn't go back.
"I didn't steal it though. Not technically. I paid for it." It was hard to believe. However, he had wanted to start his pirating career on a good foot. "I am glad I did take to the ocean though. I wouldn't trade my experiences and what I have for anything." He was back to himself, the unusually happy go lucky man.
His brows rose as the other spoke about his own lot. "Sounds so terribly exciting. I could see you as a treacherous dog. It fits you. Makes you more dashing I do believe!" Dashing! Hah! "I bet the ladies love that kind of tale."
Despite the fact that Theo was not the drinking sort, he wanted to continue the catching up, and thus nodded. Following the male. "Hmm, what have we been up to?" There were tons of tales. They did a little of everything. Pirating, treasure hunting, monster chasing, so on so forth. "Nothing much!" Cheesy grin. Might as well just keep him wanting more.
"You're paying though. It seems you've come into quite a hefty bit of change." He winked and then picked up his pace, strutting ahead.

I'LL BUY MY WAY TO TALK TO GOD SO HE CAN LIVE WITH WHAT I'M NOT "Well, I doubt I would have been very generous either if he was thinking to clobber me a good one. I quite like my face pretty." He chuckled faintly at the word used. Wasn't very often a man called themselves pretty. And while he was no genius in all things grammar, he'd like to think he knew that word was mostly meant for girls. But, of course, he said nothing of it. Theo was always a rather odd one anyway. Implying that Cynric wasn't either. "Yes, blessed by the gods. It would be quite a shame to see that mug of yours damaged." he agreed. Though admittedly, he could see how Theo could be pretty, taking another gander at him. He was just fortunate he was no fool for looks. Otherwise the captain here might have had him wrapped around his finger like everyone else. "Moment you open your mouth, though, that gift goes to waste." he smirked devilishly, referring to the oh so recent incident. Face of an angel, mouth of a devil. He was quite surprised he'd gotten out of that unharmed. The both of them, actually.
Once talk of the ship and the gang started up, Cynric got a bit quieter, proving that he was in fact interested. Even the softened smile as he talked about those misfits didn't go unnoticed and he shook his head, giving the fellow a nudge. "Don't get all sappy on me now." he teased. "I asked for an update, not a sob story." he continued, tone more lighthearted than words might have implied. It was funny. Don't get him wrong, Cynric knew it'd been a while since he'd seen Theo. But he seemed... Different somehow. He wasn't entirely sure what it was, but shrugged it off as the conversation continued. "I didn't steal it though. Not technically. I paid for it. I am glad I did take to the ocean though. I wouldn't trade my experiences and what I have for anything." How does one not technically steal? He was about to ask but forgot when Theo admitted how glad he was to have went for the ocean, a sentiment Cyn could only agree with. Shit aside, it was amazing, enough so he was quite eager to get back. "Good. That's all that matters." he nodded.
"Sounds so terribly exciting. I could see you as a treacherous dog. It fits you. Makes you more dashing I do believe!" Dashing, huh? Ah yes, sure. If you were into that sort of thing. One thing was for certain, though, it caused him to have to dash a lot from both guards and other pirates. You'd think they'd be happy about him killing off some lousy pirate captain! Nope! Just put a nice price on his head. "Thanks." he offered in a sarcastic tone, not sure how to feel about having just been told being considered a dog was quite fitting. Of course, it was obvious he didn't actually take offense. Perhaps he was quite used to it. Or maybe he just didn't give a fuck. "I bet the ladies love that kind of tale." That caused him to smirk slyly. "You've always been quite the lucky gambler." he admitted to the fact in his own special way. The ladies often loved any bullshit story. Especially when they could later go tell their peers that they had 'met' an infamous pirate.
With no complaints, it was time to head to the nearest bar! Good thing he was already headed that way. It would seem he was having Theo tag along whether he wanted to or not. Catching up over drinks was the only way to do it, after all. "You're paying though. It seems you've come into quite a hefty bit of change." The con artist's brows would furrow as he stuck a childish tongue out in response. Wise guy. Of course, he supposed he could pay for at least one. Just for a friend. But after that, he was on his own. He had to make this cash count! He had a ship to acquire!
Eventually, they'd finally catch up to the place which wasn't really much of a long walk as he'd made a point to stay close to cater to the more drunken folk during his trickery. It just made sense, honestly. Inside the place was already starting to gradually grow in number as night drew nearer, though fortunately it was quiet enough to where they could talk without having to yell over everyone else. As usual, Cynric made his way to his usual space, towards the back, in a corner. Ideal if you wanted to know what everyone in the building was up to. That and it was much more private. Having expected Theo to follow him, he sat down and made himself comfortable, tossing his bag of coins onto the table, signifying he was here for service. His eye turned onto the fellow now, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Now no bullshit." he began. "You ain't as good of a liar as you think you are." he teased, referring to the lack of explanation of his adventures. "What trouble have you gotten into, Captain?" he asked once more, setting back with his boots on the table, ready for a tale or two. Every pirate had a bit of childishness to them. Every pirate loved a good story. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

once your mine there's no going back Perhaps it was true that Theo's cocky attitude...and stupid side comments...ruined the good looks he possessed, however, he could be charming. When he wanted to be. Which was usually only when he wanted something from that person. Thus, he was only charming when it was convenient for him. "My mouth is quite beautiful too. Do you not hear my flowery way of speaking? The ladies go swoon and the gents get jealous." Now he was just being ridiculous and full of himself. Where was someone from his crew to put him back in his place?
He snorted and shook his head. "I have no idea what on earth you're talking about." He was not the type to get sappy, not at all. He was just grateful for what he had. That's all. Loyal comrades, a good ship, and a thriving "business", well what more could a person ask for?
Theo could have probably been pretty infamous himself. He had stirred up enough trouble on the streets and in the ocean for it. However, most people would not believe right off the bat, that this loud mouth moron was in charge of a ship, and they did not often associate him with the captain of the Golden Tiger. Only the law did that, and those were the last people he wanted to associate the two together.
Once they were seated, things got real. Theo shifted in his seat, until he had the ideal view of the room. His gaze sweeping over, inspecting the other patrons for anything that would later cause him issue. He was only going to have one drink. His crew knew he liked being sober in the event something happened, but most others did not. He would have a drink for old times sake here, but one would be it.
"You sound like a youngun now." He was teasing. Though it was true. Theo had dealt with enough children in his time to know. They always begged for a story before bed, and then more, and even more. "Fine. One." He said this in the same voice he did with the children then too.
For a moment he looked thoughtful. What was a good one that would not convict him too much. "It had to have been...two-three? years ago. There was this right nasty storm building up overhead. We had known it was coming for days. My sailing master can't be beat when it comes to predicting such things. Despite this, we could not for the life of us, out run the damned thing." He smiled up at the barmaid as she came over for their orders. "Shot of whiskey and a glass of water." He would need something to dampen his throat if Cynric demanded more stories.
"It would certainly destroy the ship if it managed to reach full strength. It was chaos I tell you! All of my men trying their damnedest to get us somewhere safe. My quartermaster screaming at the top of his lungs. And the crazy captain just enjoying it all." He winked at this part. Theo was aware of his own insanity. "We finally found this island! It was unlike any I've ever seen. Full of fog and ruins. Creepy as all gung ho." He winked at the woman as she brought back their order. The shot was downed. "Well, the ship was destroyed and the entire crew died." He shrugged with a sad expression. Don't you feel so bad for that crew?

I'LL BUY MY WAY TO TALK TO GOD SO HE CAN LIVE WITH WHAT I'M NOT "My mouth is quite beautiful too. Do you not hear my flowery way of speaking? The ladies go swoon and the gents get jealous." Jealous indeed. He rolled his eyes once again, snickering to himself. "Your face is the only thing saving you, friend." he assured, blunt as always. "You could curse their mother's and I'm sure they'd still be falling for you." Might be rude to say his looks was all he really had, but it was mostly jest. Mostly. There was some truth to it. The common folk were quite easy to fool and young women melted for a pretty face. "You might wanna keep practicing with that fancy sword of yours in case your looks start failing." he continued to tease. Yes, Cyn was no better himself. But when was he ever not being a hypocrite?
At the bar, Cynric took to a different mood, acting rather childish as he waited for Theo to give in, not at all bothered by being called a youngun either. It wasn't like he could exactly deny it. "Fine. One." Responding to the tone, the one-eyed pirate threw up his hands in excitement with a "Yay!" that was clearly meant to imitate the kid he was called out to be. He didn't even seem bothered by the fact the few in the bar looked to him like he'd absolutely lost his mind. Of course, they quickly turned their attention elsewhere as he settled in, waiting for what was sure to be an exciting story.
The story had begun and Cynric grew quiet, leaning forward on the table. A storm, eh? He'd only been through a couple of them when he was on a ship so he could place himself into the situation well enough. However it was soon interrupted by the maid, which might have annoyed him had he not really wanted that drink. Fortune was in her favor today! "Double his order, hold the water." he smirked. He might have to teach his dear old Theo how to drink in payment for his stories. Then again, perhaps he should have been thankful he wasn't a alcoholic, seeing as he'd be paying for it. Once she made herself scarce though, he returned his attention to him, holding out a hand, gesturing him to continue.
He could only smirk as sanity was brought into the story. Now Theo wasn't exactly crazy as a kid, but he wouldn't put it past him to be lacking a bit these days. He kept that to himself, however, not wanting to interrupt the tale. Unfortunately the maid was making a terrible habit of doing just that. Of course, again, he couldn't really blame her. She was doing her job and Cyn was more than happy to take that shot of whiskey to better appreciate the talk of a creepy Island. But just when he was starting to think it would go good, Theo had to ruin it.
"Well, the ship was destroyed and the entire crew died." Another couple of shots and Cynric might have believed him. Unfortunately, he wasn't that drunk yet, nor was he stupid enough to fall for such an ending. "I believe you are starting to grow old, my friend." he began with a sigh, sitting up now. "You're already making up stories like some washed up pirate." he teased, pushing the empty shot glass aside and grabbing the other he'd ordered. "And here I was hoping for an amazing story! So disappointed!" he shook his head with a tut. But despite it all, he still wore a smirk, clearly amused nonetheless. MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS
