@tagged ### i can barely survive a night in my mindNow this was a curious matter of fact. Pridham stood on the edge of her ship, foot up on a crate, hands on her hip, and head tilted. The wind flustered her hair back, and her eyes remained narrowed, one finger tapping curiously against the pistol at her waist. The flag flew was vaguely familiar to her, though most of the crews faces, as they either peered back at her, or continued about their duties like good little ship rats, as Pridham would affectionately call her own, were not familiar to her. Two ships. Honestly it wasn't that she was so much shocked as this was a big ocean, and she encountered only so many people in her travels, or so many captains. Lots of merchants, lots of swindlers, lots of mapmakers and dockworkers and other irritating folk, but captains? Nah, that was what intrigued the woman. She often caused captains as much hassle as she went about treasure hunting and 'acting' like a pirate. Maybe if she hadn't been raised the way she was, Pridham would have ended up being a navy woman, or something of the sort, but instead she took the matter of policing into her own ships dark sails. Yet that also meant a bit of a nasty reputation, from time to time, from the other pirates. Thought she didn't get that. It's not like she sunk their ships. That had been her dad. Reputations breathed, though. Either way, the idea of meeting a captain that didn't know her face anymore than she knew theirs was quite tantalizing. Her feet cracked down on the ramp as she descended to the docks, pointing at one of the other crew members with a sharp finger and a sharper glare, "Ay! Where's your captain?" "Uh..."
About thirty minutes later, Pridham was walking into a rather fine diner. Nicer than she usually sat in, unless she was visiting her hometown. In which case, that was a different matter entirely. A tip of her fingers towards a couple of men sitting around a table playing cards that she knew, and Pridham was approaching an entirely different part of the room. Said captain had been described as a rather... masculine woman. Intriguing indeed, and not entirely out of Pridham's tastes, but she was more interested, at this point, in talking to the captain. A nice chat about the open ocean? Just fine. So long as nothing came up that made her have to do her job. Either way, her presence was suddenly there, and Pridham's eyes lighted on the lady she would soon know to be Theodore, "Found you, Captain. Fine ship you have out there." It was a very fine ship indeed. (ooc: yeeeeahhhh omg i suck at starters. Theodora Jem} don't they remind you of just how feeble we are?

once your mine there's no going back Theo had left the ship in the care of his crew hours before and taken to roaming the city. It wasn't abnormal for him, his crew knew what they had to do and were good at their jobs. He did not have to stand about and oversee every little thing that they did. He trusted them. Perhaps a foreign concept to some, but if anything happened, they would figure out a solution.
He had taken to the diner after lurking a few vendors and picking a few pockets. Just for the fun of it. It seemed cruel to most, but Theo was not the type that should be allowed to their own devices when bored. He always got into something or another.
As per usual, he was sporting a thin, loose fitting, long - poofy - sleeved white shirt, the front of it cut into a v and had a tie that criss crossed up a bit of her chest. It stopped prior to showing anything - or lack of anything - important. Black breeches, and black leather buckle boots finished the look. His hair of course was done into its masculine form. Sitting against his leg, was the sword that was toted anywhere and everywhere, ready to be used in the case of an unfortunate event.
It would be easy to mistake him as male. That was the whole point. It was quite easy to explain away the women sitting at the table with him looking half dazed.
That of course, was all interupted by a "found you", and Theo's gaze lazily went up the form of another woman. "Indeed you have darling." He shifted. "Ladies, do you mind? I do believe that I have some business to attend to." He seemed chill and collected, as though he had nothing to fear from anyone. His act was quite good.
Once the ladies left with a sigh, he motioned for the other to sit. "Now, why were you looking for me?" Insert a dazzling smile here, and the act was complete.

@tagged ### i can barely survive a night in my mindThere were different levels of trust, varying depending on captain to captain. Some watched like hawks, judging every movement made by their crew. Some set their first mates and quartermasters on them like dogs, giving those poor crew members little chance to breath. Then their was captains like Theo and Pridham, who just couldn't be bothered with that. It was all a play on trust. Many of Pridham's crew were senior members, some as far back as when her father still dealt with the ship. They kept the youngin's in check, and that was all the captain could ask for. Otherwise, she wasn't about to confine herself to the deck just because a few of her crew members might get into a squable here and a fight there! Worse come to worse, she'd tug them out of it by the neck and growl them later.
But if there was one rule on her ship, it was not to act like petty thieves.
Maybe it was because of the way she had grown up. Fighting for the last scrap, but never doing it in a way that left them taking from others. Her mother and father had been so, so against it, and there had been times where, yes, Pridham had sat down and really dreamed about what her life would be like. A pirate, on the open ocean, like in the tales! Swindling what they could and stealing what else remained! Slitting throats and knocking over tables, all while taking to the open ocean, their one true home at the end of the way!
It wasn't quite like that for her.
Yet it was hard to judge when most pirates acted this way. Not to that extent, of course. Most of them weren't six year old girls with overactive imaginations. Yet Pridham knew that many stole, and more caused other families and lives grief. That was where she came in. A burgundy flagged menace, a ship policing the water while being a treasure hunter, a pirate in its own right, at the same time. Yet she loved pirates. Pridham really, really did. She just didn't always agree to their ways, or their morals for that matter.
Pridham, looking at the rather lazily dressed 'man', as far as her opinion went, could have laughed. Pridham's own smile was nowhere's near held back by the woman who up and left as she arrived, and her eyes followed them, jumping down over their forms briefly for a minute before returning to their former target. One hip leant against the table, half sitting on the wood there, "Curiosity, for the most part. I happened to park my ship nearly parallel to yours. Not helped by that job your sailing master did." A small quip. Her eyes had moved away from the other woman--men--more in the room to rest on this other captain completely. His dazzling smile was certainly that, but her grin was mainly playful.
"You'll have to teach your crew to better hold their tongue if you don't want yourself being found amidst said ladies, captain. Though I could say the same for myself. They were fine." She'd been on the ocean for long enough. She could use someone to talk to other than her crew. don't they remind you of just how feeble we are?

once your mine there's no going back It was easy to tell that the other woman was trying to goad him. Not that it mattered, it took a lot to rile Theo up. He had to have a ridiculous amount of patience to deal with the crew he had and still have such a remarkable head of hair. So as she spoke, he simply gave her a chuckle. His body leaning forward to get a better look at her. "A true master sailing master can get into any hole, no matter how little or big. Surely yours could manage with the space that we left, right?" Innuendo much? He was simply turning the quip back to her. Even his tone was that of teasing rather than that of insult.
He sat up. His hand reaching out to take a sip of the - very watered down - wine that he had before him. Not that it was easy to tell that it was watered down. Only his crew knew his secret - that he faked being drunk and almost never drank alcohol at its full strength. He enjoyed being sober. He couldn't help it.
"You should order something. The foods good. As is the drink." He was grinning at her, motioning towards a waitress to come get the other woman's order. Once that was taken care of, he leaned back in his seat again.
To be honest, he didn't care if his crew gave away his location. He wasn't too hard to find when one thought about it. Just look for the loud mouth, handsome, flamboyant, woman. "I don't mind too much. You love me or hate me. You might as well accept all of my habits now - good and bad. No need for me to hide them." His words seemed mature. Probably a good thing that his crew was not around to hear him.
His curiosity was peaked though. "So then, tell me about yourself - did you say your name?" His brow rose, not recalling it. "I am Theo. Though, my crew probably told you that." His hand reached out to shake hers. Captain of the Golden Tiger. It's a pleasure." So polite - ya know, for a pirate.

### i can barely survive a night in my mindHonestly, if the other captain hadn't returned the words in kind, Pridham likely would have been disappointed. Instead, a corner of her mouth tilted up into a familiar smirk, "Quite easily. It's not my sailing master's skill I'm worried about. Just lookin' out for a fellow captain here. Fair enough point." A laugh bubbled up, the chuckle passing it's way through slightly parted lips. She had definitely fit into small, and the manouvering the other ship had done was not nearly so bad as to bother Pridham. But where was there any fun without any banter?
"I'll take your word for it, then." Dropping the order a simple platter that had caught her eye on a different table, Pridham watched the woman return to the front, settling into the chair, feet rising to rest on the bar below, ankle crossed lazily even as her elbows rested on the table, breeze rustling hair crusted with salt water, "I must admit, with the amount of time I'm on the water, it'll be nice to eat something different than the usual." She didn't feel like she had to explain what the usual was. Her cook was fine, splendid as far as she was concerned, but the sea often meant seafood.
It wasn't as if Pridham was a dangerous person. She was not hunting down this Captain Theo with vigor, and if there was any bounty on his head, than she didn't know about it, or particularly would have cared. Honestly, Pridham tended to find a certain companionship in ones the same as her, and this was no different. Theo was another captain, one who faced the sea and all it contained, "How good of you. Can't say I've ever taken badly to someone who faces up to their flaws. Rather charming, really. I'm not nearly so gallant, captain." A wink, but likewise, she could really care less what was said about her or what wasn't. If others were going to talk smack, then let them.
"Pridham." Her own hand, calloused and long fingered, reached out to take the other captains, her handshake firm and forceful before she released his, "Wonderful of a captain like yourself to accommodate little ol' me. I sail Athena's Pride, good vessel, was my dads." She never felt much of a reason to go on about her duties, what she took upon herself, with other pirates unless it was inquired. She, after all, was as much as friend to pirates, being one herself, as she was to ones that thieved and stuck their noses where they didn't belong. don't they remind you of just how feeble we are?
