ICARUS IS FLYING TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN When he’d heard in a bar on Rhoda that Umbre was a miserable, rain-sodden hunk of rock, Tyrin had taken it for the usual bitching and moaning of any group of drunken sailors. He’d assumed it was an exaggeration, and even if it wasn’t, how bad could a little rain really be? He fancied himself more than able to deal with such a petty annoyance. Now, though, as he looked up into the unrelenting gray clouds and blinked what felt like a metric ton of rain out of his eyes, he had to admit that it sucked. Hard. It had only been drizzling when they made land, but just as he and Chels had traipsed past the furthest of the little cottages dotting the island the heavens had abruptly opened, and it hadn’t let up since. About the only thing keeping Tyrin from suggesting they turn around and go back (apart from his stubborn refusal to let something as stupid as the weather get in his way) was that he was already soaked to the skin. He couldn’t exactly get any wetter, and they’d come this far already. So they kept going, up past the last cottage and into the hills further inland. The footing got more and more treacherous as the rain continued to pour down, the packed dirt turning into a slurry of slick mud and making any kind of slope about ten times more difficult to climb. Tyrin was puffing a bit as he hauled himself up one hill, boots sliding in the mud. He wasn’t even sure which way they were going anymore – it would be easy to get turned around with the rain washing out any landmarks they might have used to navigate. He started to turn to see if Chels was doing any better, but in doing so made the mistake of taking his eyes off where he was putting his foot. He stepped on a rain-slick rock and his boot promptly slid out from under him, sending him crashing to the ground with a wet splort. If anyone else had been with him, he would’ve immediately pushed himself up and made as if it had never happened. But Chels had seen him make a fool of himself in a thousand different ways; one more made little difference. So, instead, he just rolled over and sat up, rubbing mud off his face with one sleeve, and squinted up at her. ”This island sucks.”MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ

"I swear to fucking God Tyrin," Chelsey groaned as she trudged behind her husband. "If I could find the energy to, I'd kick your ass right about now." she added, pausing to catch her breath. They'd been out here for hours now, seemingly walking by the same few cabins littered around the island. The way Tyrin had made it seem, this wasn't going to be nothing more than just a quick detour. Get in and get out. In all honesty, Chelsey hadn't expected they'd find anything other than a few senior citizens living out their remaining time on this mudpit from Hell before they met their maker. And so far, she'd been right; though they had had yet to actually see anyone else. With all of the rain, it would almost be kind of eerie. All of the potentially abandoned homes, the lack of strong light might be able to put most people off. Mostly, Chels was just irritated. The dark haired woman did her best to catch up with the grayed one ahead of him, nearly slipping in the process. Chelsey froze immediately and did her best to keep her balance, not wanting to get her dirty and rain soaked clothes any dirtier and wetter. She let out a dramatic sigh of relief and glared at Tyrin, though she was pretty sure that he hadn't heard her. Reluctantly, she grumbled and tried her best to catch up with him. This whole endeavor had been Tyrin's idea in the first place, and she wouldn't let him ever forget it. "Just a quick look, you said." Chelsey hissed as she attempted to catch up with Tyrin, who was half up the hill already. "Just a little rain, NOTHING WE CAN'T HANDLE CHELSEY." She added, stopping at the foot of one of the few hills scattered around. Her boots caked with the freezing combination of wet and drying mud. "This island sucks." Was all that had come out of Tyrin's mouth after falling on his ass and covered in mud. Chelsey gave a loud snort and folded her arms across her chest. "Really? What gave you that idea?" She asked dryly as a loud crack of thunder could be heard not too far off. Chelsey gave a surprised 'fuck' at how close it had been. She frowned and looked around, her arms fell from her chest and sunk to her sides. After a moment, she turned to Tyrin and gave a loud shrug. "..We're fucking lost."

ICARUS IS FLYING TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN The thunder boomed overhead, and, unexpectedly, Tyrin found a wry smirk pulling at the corner of his mouth. It felt like the universe had jumped a cue; wasn’t it supposed to wait to start thundering and lightning until one of them commented on how it couldn’t possibly be any worse? Not that the thought had even crossed Tyrin’s mind; as far as he was concerned, the only fitting circumstance to think that was when one of them was bleeding and/or they were being chased by some hostile group. He knew all too well that things could always get worse, and thinking otherwise was just asking for the universe to prove you wrong. He ignored Chels’ sarcastic response and levered himself back to his feet, trying not to get his hands any muddier than necessary in the process. While the rain was still fairly warm, the mud smeared on his arms and clothes was cold and clammy, and Tyrin had to fight to suppress a shiver. Hopefully the rain would wash it off. It might as well do something useful, right? He brushed what mud he could off his arms, resisting the urge to reach over and smear some on Chels just for shits. Lost? Tyrin turned and squinted back down the hill in the direction he’d thought they came from. At one point he’d been following a path, but with the mud and water running down the hill and the rain obscuring his sight Tyrin couldn’t quite make it out anymore. He could barely even see the bottom of the slope, and the world faded into grey far too close for him to make out any of the other hills. He thought he knew which direction the ship was in, but he wasn’t sure he could trust his innate sense of direction with a total lack of landmarks to navigate by. After a moment, Tyrin returned Chelsey’s shrug. He started to put his hands in his pockets, a habitual motion, but stopped himself before he got any more mud on his pants. ”Guess so.” He shook the hair out of his eyes, thought for a moment, and shrugged again. ”Might as well keep going. Might be another house or a cave or something we can wait this shitstorm out in.”MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ
