510 i can barely survive a night in my mindThe alarm had went up about fifteen minutes ago.
Honestly, her second in command was more worried than she was. Pridham had picked up the eyeglass, held it up, and seen the slightly larger ship approaching, and wanted to laugh. The seas had been oddly quiet for quite some time, after all. She was starting to get bored. On a different note, how dare someone think they could harass her ship? Now, Pridham couldn't be sure that was the intent behind the ship fast approaching, but she could also be fairly certain. Maybe it was the way the wind was blowing. Maybe it was the fact that the ship looked like it was approaching much too fast to just be planning on having a friendly chat, or breezing by. Maybe it was just a sixth sense. Either way, she didn't care.
"To your stations!" She had ordered, and her ship had come alive with scuttling crew members, gathering up swords, barrels, and moving towards the gunning stations. She wouldn't attack unless they attacked first, but you could never be too sure.
Now, she could also turn and run. It wasn't because she found it so much cowardly to do so, but Pridham was not a runner. She was the one who charged head first into battle. She was the one that liked to grab the enemy around the balls and twist. She was also very, very bored. She didn't want this to escalate into anything too much. Her boat was not about to be sinked. In most cases, these things just turned out to be some younger captain wanting to mess around with what they thought would be an easy target--and were quickly proved wrong and Pridham turned to face them with teeth bared. As her eyes watched her second-in-command move briskly down the deck, that was exactly what she was preparing to do.
Just in case, right?
Her own flag, red against dark burgundy sails and emblazoned with the watchful symbol of the sun, rose up, snapping in the brisk wind. Her sails billowed. The sword at her hip felt heavy, but her hand rested on the hilt of it as she moved up into the watchful area of the quarter deck. Her sailing master was still in place, holding their ship steady, not directly into the wind. If this ship proved to not be a thread, than it could easily move past as they began to sail diagonally. The master glanced back at Pridham, "Expecting trouble, Captain?"
"Only if they cause it first." Either way, her hand went down to rest lazily on the gun posted on the side of the ship, and she leaned into the wind, the fabric around her neck snapping taught, similar to the flag in the area, as the glass came back up to her eye, watching the ship approaching. She would work this smasher. She wasn't some captain that hid away inside of her ship. It would also make it easier to hail any irritable, or just other bored, fellow captains.
Now, don't disappoint me. don't they remind you of just how feeble we are?

ICARUS IS FLYING TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN It was a good day for a fight. The sea was relatively calm despite the strong wind, the sun unimpeded by clouds but not unbearably hot thanks to that same wind. It glittered off the waves, made the foam rolling out to either side of Tyrin’s boat shine, and made it all too easy to see the ship that appeared on the horizon downwind of the Leonine. If Tyrin was inclined to believe in that sort of thing, he would have said it was a sign from the universe. It was too good an opportunity to pass up, especially since the crew had been itching for a fight, and the ship’s purse and Tyrin’s own were getting a bit thin. He’d ordered the ship brought around, sent Jason below to stay out of the fighting, and now made a round around the deck as the crew made preparations for battle. Shouts filled the air, jokes and taunts and bets on the outcome of the fight, accompanied by the clanking of cannonballs being loaded into guns, the metallic scrape of swords being drawn and the click of pistols being cocked. A little premature to be getting weapons ready? Maybe, maybe not. Tyrin didn’t mind it; better safe than sorry, especially if the other ship had some mermaid outliers swimming around (he only had to be caught by surprise by that little trick once to never let it surprise him again). They were making good time. Not even an hour since first sighting the ship and they were already drawing close, the fight imminent. Tyrin stopped at the side, leaning on the railing, and pulled a spyglass commandeered from one of the lookouts from his pocket to take a look at the ship. They’d finally noticed the Leonine’s approach, it seemed, judging by the sudden flurry of activity. Tyrin watched as the ship ran up a flag and focused on it for a moment. A stylized sun on a red background. Aha. He’d heard about this ship. Not the easy mark he’d thought it might be, but that wasn’t about to stop him. Maybe they wouldn’t get the loot he was hoping for, but it would be a good fight. He lowered the glass and waved to a crewman standing by the mast. A moment later, the Leonine’s flag rose up the mast. It snapped and billowed in the wind, a (also stylized) lion in gold on a dark blue background. Tyrin took a moment to check his weapons, then circled back around to the helm, noting as he did so that the ship they were pursuing had changed tack. ”Keep after them,” he told the helmsman. The man nodded and turned the wheel slightly to keep them on an intercept course. They still had a few moments before they were close enough to hail the other ship, so Tyrin turned his eyes back to the deck, looking for his wife. After all, the fight would start soon, and there was no one he would rather have at his back. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ

This was gonna be a good one, Chelsey could feel it. About an hour or so ago, the crew of The Leonine had gotten word that another ship was on the horizon. Typically there were two possible scenarios that would occur if they boarded the other ship. Either there was gonna be a fight, or they were gonna rob some poor bastard blind. In either scenario, Chelsey wouldn't complain. They hadn't had a good fight or raid in days now. In all honesty, when she had become a pirate, she had assumed that there would be more action. The dark haired woman wasn't afraid to admit that she had fallen in love with the fantasy of piracy- and slightly irritated with its reality. But again, you wouldn't hear her complain, as when things were interesting, they were damn sure better than anything else life had to offer. Needless to say, she was itching to get into a fight. Her first instinct after they had gotten close enough to the other ship was to herd Jason down below. However, finding that Tyrin had already taken care of him, she had eagerly run to their room to prepare. Like her husband, she was rather proficient with a sword, though Chelsey found that guns were more entertaining. She'd made quite the name for herself in terms her marksmanship. Chelsey hummed excitedly to herself as she made her way back onto the deck, pushing through the crowd of men to find Tyrin. Unsurprisingly, Chelsey found him giving orders. The dark haired woman grinned and gave her husband a punch in the shoulder. "If this is half as good as I think it's gonna be, someone is definitely getting laid." Chelsey commented with an eager grin as she tossed her old cigarette over the deck. She leaned against the side of The Leonine, Chelsey's eyes focused on the steadfastly approaching ship, awaiting for the impending fight.

@u guys
meeps i can barely survive a night in my mindYes, there was no doubting it now. That ship was quite deliberately set after her own, and a small smile had turned up the corners of Pridham's mouth. If they wanted a skirmish, than she would give them one. The flag of the ship, as it approached, did look familiar, though if only in her briefly seeing it in passing. This ship would cause them trouble, but Pridham was vastly capable of causing it right back, and after all, who didn't love a good fight in the middle of the seas? They had been sailing for quite a few days now, and she knew that some of her crew had grown wary, but many of them now moved with a bit more spring in their step, and a spark in their eyes. It was really only her sailing master who looked wary.
"Shall we turn off and make way, Captain? The wind could work in our favor if we act quickly enough--" A browned hand rose, and the sailing master fell silent once more, with Pridham watching the approaching ship, "Definitely not. The ship could use the excitement, plus who knows what we'll get out of it. Start to turn the ship around. We'l face them head on." The wheel turned, as did her ship. They'd be on her in no time, but so would Pridham be prepared for it. The gunners had already arrived at their stations, and the smell of battle seemed sweet on the sea air. Spray washed over her face, and her sword loosened at her belt. Her own spyglass rose again. The flag of the other ship snapped taught with just enough time for her to finally put a name to the ship. Leonine. How nice~
Her quartermasters voice floated up to her, hailing the other crew to battle. The air felt charged, despite the calm waters beneath the hull, and a number of gulls screed in the distance, sharp in her ears. She didn't want to outright call for the landing on the first blow, whether or not that would be by their ships or by hand, but her sword drew anyway, her fingers turning the small gun on the side of the quarterdeck facing the approaching ship. If they weren't actually looking for trouble, then she would have been starting a battle for no reason.
Though that didn't mean much when she wanted this fight, did it?
"Brace!" The voice of her quartermaster floated up to her again. Always ready, always prepared. She couldn't have had a better man on her ship--besides herself, of course. One side of her mouth turned up. This would be fun. She knew that even before the first blow was landed. don't they remind you of just how feeble we are?

ICARUS IS FLYING TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN Almost before he’d started to look, Chelsey had already appeared next to him, already armed and ready to go. While both were proficient in both sword and gun, Tyrin preferred the former and Chels the latter, which made them a damn good team in battle. Which they would have been anyway, Tyrin was sure; run with someone for as long as he had with Chels, and it came naturally. Tyrin returned her grin and took the punch in the shoulder without comment, instead turning with his wife to look towards the ship. ”It’s gonna be good,” he said, leaning on the railing beside her. ”They could’ve run a hundred times by now, but they’re staying to fight.” While that meant they weren’t going to get an easy payday, Tyrin preferred a good fight anyway. And from what he’d heard of this ship, the one thing he was guaranteed to get out of this was a good fight. They were close enough now that, while he couldn’t make out faces, he could see the figures of other crew by the ship’s guns, others gathered along the railing closest to the Leonine to watch the ship’s approach. They were ready. Tyrin’s hand fell unconsciously to the hilt of his sword, resting on the pommel lightly. Good. He turned to look over his own crew. The commotion had mostly settled down by now, men and women taking their posts for the battle. He whistled sharply, cutting through the general chatter, and shouted orders to the gunners. ”Aim high. I want them crippled, not sunk!” After all, hard to fight a crew or loot a ship when the deck was sinking beneath the waves, right? He turned to the helmsman. ”Intercept course. Hit ‘em side-on.” That way they’d have the maximum amount of rail space for people to vault from one ship to the other. They were coming in fast now, the sails ballooned out with the force of the wind, and Tyrin yelled one final order. ”Brace for impact!”MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ
