[words: 400][tagged: Pridham Collett] The sticky warm air blew across the port of Rhoda. The docks were a blur of motion with sailors and pirates alike moving cargo back and forth between warehouses and ships. A dull monotony that kept ones eyes busy while the mind went about its business. The busier part of the docks was for those with ships and business. Closer to the mainland and away from the action was the slower section. Here all sorts of folks sat around waiting for something to happen. Some were workers without a ship, others were just bums hoping to make a quick buck. The usual crowd here were hairy, burly men who were either dressed in salt-stained clothes or dinghy rags. One new arrival was catching everyone's eye for being so unusual. A woman colored varying shades of white and blue sat on the wooden pier closest to the water. She was your typical mermaid by appearance. Her lower body was entirely a tail similar to a fish with the upper body of a woman. She lacked the usual scales that mermaids had. Her were much smaller and harder to notice. She was incredibly smooth in one direction, but incredibly rough in the other. She had her tail pulled close to her body so she could rest her chin on it. The end of her tail split into two sharp fins with two smaller ones poking out a little higher up. Her upper body was a bright shade of white with almost a blueish hue to it. She wore a light, dark blue hoodie to keep herself covered. She had the hood up as she watched the workers going back and forth. Ceto had been dropped off by the last ship she was on. They found her useful for a while, but they soon grew tired of having her around. They never wanted to stop long enough for her to go look for anything under water. No one fell overboard and required her to act. She just sat around. They were happy to ditch her the first chance they got. She wouldn't tell anyone that she cared in the least, but her demeanor showed that she was dejected. She found herself envying those humans and their legs. She wondered if there was some sorcery that would let her switch places with one of them. There was surely someone who wanted to be able to live underwater. all this time i was searching for the rain |
