Alois Altair
Age: 29 | Male |
Alois the Red.
A man feared by any and all pirates with wisdom worth their salt. His name and legendary deeds were spoken of by Naval forces all through Rhoda and her surrounding isles, making it rather difficult to avoid attention when it sought him. This particular day brought Alois and his fellow crewman out far into the ocean, seeking his greatest foe and most significant mark, Alda'Baras. The sea dragon had managed to elude Alois and his crew for the first time in months.
Alois stood on deck, bright blue eyes glancing up at the darkening clouds as rain seemed to itch to begin falling, but had yet to do so. His first mate approached, looking very concerned. "Sir," he began, saluting as he came to an abrupt, but proper stop before his commanding officer, "Our men have yet to spot the beast. What are your orders?" Alois glanced at him, then quickly out to the blue horizon of ocean. After a brief moment to think, Alois looked back and nodded, as if calming his first mate's worries.
"I want the three ships to split up, and form a search net as tight as we can. Letting Alda'Baras escape would mean the deaths of hundreds. Let the headsmen of the other ships know to signal with the red smoke if they spot him, and green for anything else." Alois spoke firmly, his authoritative nature shining through like a beacon of light. The nervous men on board seemed to calm almost instantly. Alois could appreciate such loyal men as these.
"Aye, sir!" The first mate quickly responded, his fervor renewed as he quickly saluted, spun around, and marched off to signal the other ships. Alois nodded as he walked off, himself moving to the wood and metal rail of the ship, leaning over and resting his arms on it as he glanced across the great blue sea. His red coat, part of the Vice Admiral's uniform, seemed especially red today... Something about the low light seemed to bring out the best in this particular coat. It made him a sight that would forever be burned into the eyes of those who looked upon him. The chain holding onto Alois' officer pocket watch jingled faintly as he adjusted his arms for comfort on the rail.
The salty breeze rolled across Alois' face, giving him a faint chill as he glanced down into the depths. How often was it, that he glanced down into the ocean and saw nothing? It was so deep, one could never look too far below. In that respect, Alois was envious of the mermaids. He had always longed to see what was below the surface. Below where his eyes could never see. It was always a dream of his to find out what was so far down there... But that dream would never come true. Alois sighed as his eyes drew back up in time to see the Maelstrom begin sailing away. Without even needing to turn his head, he knew that the Tsunami had done so as well, as he had ordered. Soon enough, the only ship left there was the ship Alois was on... His personal vessel, the Typhoon.
This particular ship was larger than the other two, and a significant size larger than most other ships on the seas. It also held over 60 armed cannons on board, making it more than a match for nearly anything else on the seas. Except, of course, Alda'Baras. With any luck, they'd be able to keep tabs on him after all. The Vice Admiral stood himself a bit more straight, adjusting from leaning on the rail to simply resting his hands on it.
"Sir!" came a voice from behind him, prompting Alois to stand straight and spin around, looking at his first mate once again. Alois was quick to inquire, "Yes?" The first mate signaled to the other side of the ship, pointing toward the horizon. "We believe another ship may be approaching, but it's too far off to tell what kind of vessel it is, or whether it's alone or not." Alois was quick to flash a curious glance in the direction he was being pointed. He crossed his arms, as if pondering the possibilities.
Hmm... I don't recall any merchant vessels being charted for this area today, so it's likely an unofficial sail. Either a runner or a pirate, most likely. Regardless, I suppose leaving them to Alda'Baras would be an unjust fate...
Alois uncrossed his arms, quickly gesturing his first mate's attention to the lookout in the crow's nest, "Make sure he signals that ship in when it gets closer! We can't have it getting into Alda'Baras' grasp, pirate or no! And ensure that we're set to shoot off both smokes at the drop of a hat!" His first mate was quick to salute him and march off once again, this time yelling back his "Aye, sir!" as he walked away. Alois quickly moved to the other rail of the ship, resting his hands on it as he was on the other side previously. His bright blue eyes stared out upon the horizon, keeping watch for the first sign of this approaching ship...
